An escape room is a game where a group of people work together to solve riddles, puzzles, and complete tasks in a set amount of time to achieve a goal. The goal is usually to escape the room before the hour is up.

I love these games! I’m pretty good with puzzles, riddles can be tricky, and the tasks are fun to figure out and accomplish.

There is extra help if needed. There is a worker watches as you play, and they know all the secrets in the room. If you haven’t found something by a certain amount of time, they give you a hint.

Sometimes the hint is subtle, and it shows up on a tv screen. You have to constantly be watching the screen for hints. If you don’t catch that hint, and the time is going by quickly, the worker might come over the microphone and give you a hint. If you are really struggling, they can tell you where to look to get you back on track.

Does this remind you of anything? Heavenly Father sends us messages. Sometimes he puts things in our lives that are hints. The hint can be obvious, or it can be subtle.

If we miss that hint, there are other messages for us. Are we too busy looking for something else to notice those messages? While playing the game, there have been times that I was so focused looking for a clue that I missed the words on the screen. Sometimes it was a friend that noticed the words before I did.

We also have the Spirit, the Holy Ghost, that can whisper to us when we really need to hear the clue. When things get really dire, and we have an urgent need, make sure to listen for that still small voice. Make sure to get rid of unnecessary distractions so that you can notice and hear the promptings it has for you.

Since this last spring, I have been devouring my scriptures. It has been so fun for me. I am looking at them like the ultimate escape room. I am finding clues everywhere I look. Some of these clues I already knew, but when I came across them again, they jumped out at me. They were answers to questions I had or questions I didn’t know that I had.

I am not just looking at the scriptures this way, I am also looking at the messages and teachings of the current prophet and apostles. Did you know that like the prophets of old, the gospel of Jesus Christ has fully been restored to the earth? His priesthood that He gave to His apostles has been restored and it happened way back in the 1800’s? We have had living prophets and apostles of God on the earth for over two centuries!

Because of this restoration of the priesthood and authority to use it, I have so many things to keep me finding my way closer to Jesus Christ. So that when He returns, I will know Him and He will know me. With every piece of knowledge that I acquire, I learn more of Him and His gospel. It is beautiful. It is perfect. I am all amazed.

In really good escape rooms, you start in one room and as you put the clues together, and as you unlock more puzzles that lead you to other hidden rooms. It is so cool!

Just as with the Gospel, there are all different levels of understanding. It starts out simply and you can stay there if you wish; there is no time limit to the Ultimate Escape Room. The really amazing parts come as you progress and find deeper understandings.

Our ultimate goal is to return home to Heavenly Father. There are many hidden hints and clues for us to find along the way. He has provided them for us everywhere. He gives us nudges where to go and what to look for if we let Him. Are you paying attention? Are you willing to let Him guide you?
