It took me to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and to the Book of Mormon. There is a book of Alma and in chapter 23, the Lamanite King has just converted to the Lord. He has put out a proclamation to all of his people that they should let Ammon, Aaron, Omner and Himni teach the word of God, and no harm would be allowed to come to them. There would be no obstruction from the word of God being taught to the people. That it was time to turn away from murder, plunder, and any manner of wickedness.

When this proclamation was enacted, they were able to teach and have great success. Thousands of people were brought to the knowledge of the Lord. “They were converted unto the Lord, and never did fall away.”

Now that you have a better understanding of this, here is my response:

God uses small and simple things to guide us. Pray, read the scriptures, go to church. Keep it small. Keep it simple.

Does that sound like it will be enough to keep you from falling away? No? Okay, try this:

1- Before you pray:

Imagine Jesus Christ. What does He look like? What does His presence feel like?

Imagine Heavenly Father. What does He look like? What does His presence feel like?

Imagine Heavenly Mother. What does She look like? what does Her presence feel like?

Don’t forget the Holy Ghost. What does he look like? What does that presence feel like?

Now pray. Feel them near you as your pray. Pray with a purpose of ‘seeing’ them with you every time. It becomes real. The connection will deepen. They are there. Feel of Their love. They desire for you to feel it. They know how hard it is to live in this world we live in now. They are always there.

2- Don’t just read the scriptures. Devour them. Look for Christ as you read. Look for God’s love and guidance as you read. Search for Their love in the scriptures.

Ask yourself questions about certain people in the scriptures. Then search for them and learn all you can about how they faced their trials in life. See them as real people, not just a story in a book.

Make the connections that you can from their day and your day. It makes the scriptures more relevant to our time. Write it down.

3- Don’t just go to church. GO to church! As you go into the building, go out of your way to reach out to those that are lonely and struggling with their testimonies, God will bless you.

Fulfill your church callings or assignments to the best of your ability. Pray each Sunday for new knowledge or an opportunity to serve someone. To see them as a child of God. When you do this, the Spirit will testify to you that you are serving them as God would have you do. God will help you to feel the love He has for them.

These are the small and simple things. I know that just these three things are enough. But I also know that when you really do these things as I have suggested, “more will be added to you”.

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33 KJV)

To never fall away, keep doing these things. It can become easy to be distracted by the world. I have noticed every time I falter on my prayers, scripture reading and church service, that I don’t feel as good. When I am truly invested and connected to Heaven, I have had clarity of mind and direction in my life.
